At the recent R.I. Radio Hall of Fame induction, McVay Media's star struck Holland Cooke met living legend Don Pardo, one of eight 2009 honorees. Pardo began his announcing career in 1938 at WJAR/Providence. Two years later, he began a "60 year and 6 month" stint at NBC/New York. Before his retirement 4 years ago, Pardo held one of only two of NBC's "lifetime contracts" (Bob Hope had the other). Since then, 91-year-old Pardo has commuted to New York 20 times a year to deliver his signature intro for "SATURDAY NIGHT LIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!"
